Supervision

Supervision is effective for many different professions, not just counsellors and psychotherapists. Anyone in a managerial, tutorial, or consultative position can benefit from supervision. Clear examples of these are:

  • Mental Health First Aiders

  • anyone working in the medical or teaching profession

  • people holding a team leader or managerial post.

Supervision gives you the opportunity to share your experience of the person(s) you are supporting in a calm, safe and confidential space. Using the Seven Eyed Model of Supervision, together we will endeavour to attend, not only to the person being supported (patient/client/employee) but the supervisee as well. By exploring the relationships and the wider systemic context we will be able to shed light on what is happening and come up with ideas on how to positively develop relationships with others and ourselves.

  • We started off with Robin Shohet sharing his Seven Eyed Model of Supervision and the Supervisory Relationship as a Spiritual Path.

  • Followed by Julia Buckroyd – Understanding the Function of the Client’s Distress.

  • Jeff and Ariana Faris – Choosing a Path with Heart.

  • Ceri Jones – Shaping the Space: how core beliefs and the transpersonal sculpt the supervisory space.

  • Gillian Downie – Embodied Imagination in Supervision

  • And finally, a five-day residential with Robin Shohet in Sicily, where we returned to the Seven Eyed Model in a lot more detail.
